WNBA Surprises Sophie Cunningham with Private Helicopter

From a bush outside of Olympic Tower in New York City, I can now confirm that following yet another ratings boost to the WNBA regular season games, WNBA Commissioner, Cathy Engelbert has gifted a Sikorsky S-76B twin-engine helicopter to Indiana Fever guard, Sophie Cunningham. Engelbert shared the details of the gift in a recent press conference.
“Sophie has played a big part in bringing a lot of new viewers to the W,” Engelbert said before refusing to denounce transphobia. “Sure, a lot of those viewers are tuning in, in hopes of watching Sophie get her block knocked off. Just as many are transphobes. But at the end of the day, eyeballs are eyeballs. Am I right folks?”
When asked if other players would be granted similar gifts, Engelbert sidestepped the question and brought the focus back to Cunningham.
“There have been a lot of big moments in the W this year, like Sophie pointing at DeWanna Bonner, DiJonai Carrington’s ejection after her flagrant 2 against Sophie, and uh…uh, and,” Engelbert said before failing to mention A’ja Wilson’s 45-points against the Sun, Olivia Miles amazing season in Minnesota, Wilson’s big block on Caitlin Clark to win it for the Aces, Clark’s logo shot, amongst many other highlights. “The point is, Sophie is a star, so she should be treated like a star. Hence, the private, totally safe to fly, helicopter. It’s our way of saying thanks for taking some of the heat off Caitlin, and thanks for the memories.”
Cunningham was over the moon about her new helicopter.
“Whoa helicopter,” Cunningham said, pointing. “It’s about time the W started appreciating it’s stars. Better late than never, I guess. Whoa this thing is so cool. I’m going to hop in right now and go see my BFF, Riley.”
At press time, Cunningham took to the air on a foggy morning in Indianapolis. The bush I hid in for this piece was a W Bush.
