‘Masters of the Universe’ Popcorn Bucket Just Repainted ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Bucket
While supplies last.
From a bush outside of AMC HQ, I can now confirm that in celebration of Masters of the Universe hitting theaters this weekend, AMC is offering commemorative, limited-edition Battle Cat popcorn buckets, which are just unsold Wolverine buckets from 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine that have been repurposed and repainted for the upcoming release.
"While you go to the theater for the film, the overall experience isn’t complete without a buttery tub of popcorn. Forget about a plain plastic bucket or paper bag. AMC is treating fans to a commemorative cat head,” said Britt Fronaut, the PR coordinator at AMC theaters. “This movie was made to sell merchandise, or as we call it, physical content!"
Due to pressure from the top, it was crucial for Mattel to cut on production costs, promoting a movie produced by Amazon, which had spent $8.45 billion purchasing MGM studios in 2022.
“Mattel is very excited to bring He-Man and the Masters of the Universe into the modern age, but due to rising costs, we are releasing a popcorn bucket using pre-existing buckets from Deadpool & Wolverine,” says Don Tonabby, spokesman of the toy company that saw net revenue of $5.348 billion in 2025. “It’s all a part of our green initiative. Less money spent on plastic crap means more green in our pockets.”
While painting a wolverine to look like a green tiger proved to be a challenge, pre-orders have already broken all previous commemorative popcorn bucket records. Ads for the promotion claim it will “look great on the shelf belonging to any 52-year-old virgin.”
“I’ve already pre-ordered the ticket package that comes with a poster, the popcorn bucket, and a Pepcid AC,” says lifelong He-Man fan Norm McChomsky, a 52-year-old virgin. “Hopefully I can complain about something at the theater, and they’ll give me some sweet cardboard cutouts to just go away.”
At press time, Angel Studios confirmed it would be purchasing unused Wolverine popcorn buckets to repurpose them for its upcoming epic about George Washington called Young Washington. The bush I hid in for this scoop was a Buttery Shrub.
