HBO Max’s ‘The Pitt’ Heading to Space for Season 3

The Shift from hell…IN SPACE.

From a bush outside of Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, I can now confirm that season 3 of HBO Max’s medical hit, “The Pitt” will be heading to space. Creator and showrunner, R. Scott Gemmill, confirmed the new direction in a conversation with star, Noah Wyle, on the set of the show.

“So, we open on a shot of Earth. We pull back to reveal that following his sabbatical, Dr. Robby has agreed to work on a space station,” Gemmill said manically, with bags under his eyes and a cup of coffee in each hand. “And it’s not just Dr. Robbie up there. Dr. Langdon will be there too, tempted by some new space drugs. Dana will fight early retirement and unruly alien patients. All the residents and patients you know and love will be there too.”

Wyle, who also serves as an executive producer on the show, had some concerns.

“Space,” Wyle questioned, letting out a big sigh and placing both hands on his head. “What if next season we just have a bunch of the doctors taking shifts in other hospitals? I’m sure with more hospitals in the fold, we could come up with some exciting ailments. Your space angle is a bit much.”

Gemmill downed both coffees simultaneously and then began to defend his new direction for the show.

“We’ve got less than ten months to get this thing written,” Gemmill said, snapping at a nearby assistant to bring him two more coffees. “People are already bored with all the medical stuff we’ve covered. Cancer, gonorrhea, and bullet wounds are all tired tropes. Sure, we’ve sauced things up with boobs and wieners, but that old HBO trick only carries you so far. We need to look beyond the stars and start making shit up, or all these viewers are going to ghost us for some network show.”

At press time Gemmill was taking a quick power nap in some bushes on set, prior to returning to the writers’ room. The bush I hid in for this scoop was a Grey’s Herb.
