AMC Theaters to Implement ‘Skip Ad’ Button

From a bush in Leawood, Kansas, I can now confirm that AMC Theaters will be implementing a ‘Skip Ad’ button at all locations. Meme coin shitposter and AMC CEO, Adam Aron, shared details about the latest theater innovation during AMC’s recent earnings call.

“Moviegoers aren’t too happy about the 25-30 minutes of ads we play before the feature presentation,” Aron said, before getting sidetracked momentarily by some newly announced crypto currency on Reddit. “That’s why I’m happy to announce that we’re introducing the AMC Stubs A-List Ad-Free subscription tier, starting at $59.99 a month. Subscribers on this tier will gain access to a theater that lets them skip ads… after the first 20 seconds of course.”

Aron then went into detail about how this latest program will save the theaters.

“Moviegoers will no longer show up late to the theater,” Aron said, while checking his Robinhood account mid-meeting. “They’ll now show up on time and spend more time at concessions and the arcade. No more lollygagging in 30 minutes late and catching the start of the movie. You simply stroll into the theater at showtime and skip ads. Of course, the entire theater has to come to a consensus to skip an ad. If one moviegoer wants to see the ad, then by god, that ad will play in full.

We caught up with a local moviegoer, Paul Stoops, who says he’ll be paying for the new subscription and sitting through the ads anyway.

“The trailers are a part of the experience,” Stoops said, holding an overpriced movie tie-in popcorn bucket. “Sure, I could wait and see all the trailers at home, but where’s the fun in that? I want to sit in a theater with my fellow moviegoers and listen to them groan with the start of each new trailer.”

At press time, Aron was working on a new and less expensive AMC Stubs A-List Ad-Free subscription tier that only lets subscribers skip some ads The bush I hid in for this scoop was a Stonks Shrub.
