Acorn TV gets First Subscriber
Moving on up.
From a bush somewhere in London, I can now confirm that Acorn TV has finally attracted its first subscriber to its streaming service. Kristin Dolan, CEO of AMC Global Media, parent company of Acorn TV, celebrated the landmark subscription count in a YouTube video posted earlier today.
“Oh my god, we finally got one,” Dolan said in the video, which at the time only had one view. “My mom said this would never pan out. We’d never be Netflix, HBO Max, or Yahoo TV, but look at me now mom. We’ve got a subscriber and it’s no thanks to you. That’s right, our subscriber isn’t even a blood relative!”
Dolan then went into detail about all the wonderful programming available on Acorn TV.
“We have that one show on there,” Dolan said, struggling to recall the name of the show. “You know that one show with the murder. Everyone is British. It’s written by that one lady. Oh god, what’s it called?”
We caught up with the lone Acorn TV subscriber to ask about their experience with the streamer so far.
“Oh wow, it’s all British,” said the subscriber who wished to remain anonymous. “It’s ok. But to be honest, I accidentally signed up for it when I sat on my Firestick remote. I tried to get a refund, but the people at Acorn TV keep hanging up on me.”
At press time. The bush I hid in for this scoop was an Acorn Shrub.
