Mike Flanagan, Stephen King Superglued Together Again

King and Flanagan stuck together.

Stuck on You

From a bush in Bangor, Maine, I can confirm that author, Stephen King, and filmmaker, Mike Flanagan, have somehow superglued their foreheads together, again. The two horror icons were gathered for an interview about Flanagan’s adaptations of King’s works, but both were much more preoccupied with their Gorilla Glue snafu.

“Damn it, Mike. Why was there glue on your forehead,” King said as he tried to pull away from Flanagan to no avail. “Well, I was going to say Mike is amazing at getting in my head and writing the shit out of his movies. No one can write about childhood trauma and the echoes it carries into adulthood, like me. That is until Mike here came along. He’s the King Whisperer. The new Carrie…amazing, is what I would say, if this idiot hadn’t got us glued together again. Now I’m thinking I would rank his Carrie lower than The Shining.”

Flanagan disagreed with his idol’s assessment of the situation.

“Steve, I wash my forehead before every meeting with you, ever since the last time we got glued together,” Flanigan fired back as he tried to pull away from King. “I’ve loved you since reading IT in fifth grade, but if you keep this up, I might just have to find a new living hero. I hear Clive Barker is alive and well. And as far as I know he’s never glued himself to anyone. And I bet if he did glue himself to a young filmmaker, I’m sure he’d take it in stride and not blame the young filmmaker.”

After a few more attempts to separate their foreheads, by both men, cooler heads eventually prevailed.

“Mike, I’m sorry,” King said. “I didn’t mean all those hateful words, and I definitely didn’t mean to put you down on the same level as that hack, [Stanley] Kubrick.”

“I’m sorry too, Steve,” Flanagan responded. “I would never dump you for Barker. That man scares the shit out of me.”

At press time, King and Flanagan attended the red carpet premier of Carrie still stuck together. The bush I hid in for this scoop was a Pennywise Nightshade.
